Here in the UK, we have a whole network of cycle paths, so lycra wearing (*shudder*) blobs can cycle (and sweat) in relative safety from regular road users.

It makes me smile when I recall, as a child, being told stopped by a copper when riding my bike on the path, and being told to walk with it on the footpath – now people are encouraged to do this…

Anyhoo, there is nothing that makes me more annoyed (well, ok, maybe there is), than a twat on his bike on the road, holding me and other car drivers back, when there’s a perfectly good (and empty!) cycle path similar to the second picture only yards to his left.

So I propose that cyclists who fail to use cycle paths should be fined – or shot.

Been to Hahn this week for some work – the guy I was working with there was a stereotypical German – blonde, blue eyed, and the sort of accent you imagine Germans having (English with a sorta German hint ).

Now Frankfurt-Hahn airport has a LOT of history, and this guy talked me through it all (it was interesting actually), from the early days when Hitler built the first airstrip there (not personally I don’t think), then the French took over after the war and extended it, before the Americans then took it over during the cold war, extended it some more (it was actually the closest air base to the Ruskies apparently), installed loads of those cool bunkers:

for the various aircraft, and loads of underground bunkers for the nukes.

The Americans moved out in the 1990s and the base finally became a civilian airport – I’ve been going there now for 3 or 4 years, and the changes are clear each time – the buildings and bunkers are being ripped down to make way for cargo buildings and hangars, the runway has been extended (that’s twice now) – by next year the barracks will have all gone.

I just hope while doing all this re-modelling they don’t lose sight of the important stuff like:

GET SOME DECENT FOOD PLACES IN THE AREA!

EDIT: Apparently, when the local airbase to me (Alconbury) was abandoned by the septics, they decided to level the area where the bunkers are, so they got explosive experts in, they did there thang with stuff-that-goes-boom™, waited for the dust to settle…and nothing – only scratched the surface. It allegedly took days to cut through the steel reinforcing to get to where they could start knocking the feckers down…

Oh yes, I’m now officially paying tax and stuff at work (shock horror!), and we got rid of the ‘dead wood’ – as such, Tim (the twat) and Mick ‘Dunno mate’ have now gone.

And with Tim gone, it’s a much happier place in the workshop – no misery guts to bring a downer on everyone.

Which reminds me – the everlasting 34p…

Someone (probably in a pub), told Tim that he’d be better off quitting work to look after his lunatic (seriously, she’s been locked in psych wards on several occasions), pig ugly Thai wife as he’d get all sorts of benefits. So he did, taking the opportunity to get redundancy pay also.

Thing is, redundancy pay is gonna take about 8 weeks to actually get, so Tim (the twat) has suddenly found himself not very well off at all – he even called the office the other day to try to borrow money saying he only had 34p to his name.

Since then, I’ve seen him in 2 different pubs, and going into the supermarket, so I’m thinking this guy can REALLY stretch his money! (and why is it I see him more now than when I worked with him?)

Meh…

So, I have no idea what’s happening on stalkerbook, due to working so hard I’m in bed by 8.30 most nights, and if we go out, I’m yawning and ready to go home by 9pm…Lisa would find this amusing, but she’s just as bad as me

I’ve had a few trips away: Spain, Ireland, Belgium, and Germany next week apparently, but can’t wait for our holiday to Spain at the end of May

Right, paperwork to get done, so I’ll post when I’ve got something more interesting to say

I’d got tickets to sit in the audience of Blockbusters (can I have a ‘P’ please Bob?) which would mean we’d get tickets to see ‘A League of Their Own‘ (mmm, Georgie Thompson ).

Anyhoo, we got to London in time for some dinner in Covent Garden, (copy ‘n’ paste from Lisa now):

The journey from Vauxhall to Syon Lane was on the overground train and it just started to rain…We wandered to the studios to find all the access points totally locked up!! At this point the rain turned into a downpour and we were completely drenched…Looking very sad for ourselves we walked back round to the ‘main entrance’ (a bloody long way!) only to be told that we couldn’t go through that way and would have to walk all the way back to where we’d originally been!!

It was still raining heavily so Paul decided that he’d had enough!! To be honest, the thought of sitting in a studio totally soaked wasn’t very appealing (we couldn’t have been wetter if we’d stepped into the shower fully dressed!).

We decided to make our way home get changed and go for a beer! But by the time we’d got back to St Neots I was so cold that we ended up sat on the sofa watching tv with a cuppa!!
