Champion’s League quarter finals

Real Madrid vs (The Mighty) Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea vs Man Utd.
Barcelona vs Shakhtar Donetsk
Inter Milan vs Schalke

Get in!

Not our best game but…

WE FUCKING DID IT! into the quarter finals after beating AC Milan 1-0 on aggregate – great team spirit to keep them out (they were the best team on the night) – Sandro is my man of the match ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so fucking happy right now…my voice is gone, but we’re through to the quarter finals!!!!

And let’s hope someone kicks the fuck outta Flamini – the dirty ex-gooner fouling scumbag…he doesn’t deserve to get out of London tonight

What a shame*

So, the dirty gooner scum dropped out of another tournament then eh? and how – not one shot on target against Barcelona (admittedly one of the best teams in the world), Van Persie being sent off then crying about it – hopefully he’ll get a reprimand from UEFA for calling the referee a ‘joke’ (you just can’t do that sort of thing – he’s the official FFS – see my post re’ Sian Massey).

As for Wenger (gooner boss) – well, he looks like the paedo he is in that coat he wears…bet the pockets are full of sweeties for his ‘kids’ (NOTE: When the gooners lose, it’s ‘cos he”put out a young team”. When they win (snarf), it’s ‘cos “The youngsters are playing well together”).

Anyway, the proper game is tonight – second leg of Spur’s game against AC Milan at The Lane – we’re 1-0 from the first leg at the San Siro and, with a 100% home record in this competition (OK, it is our debut season in it ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), we should go through to the quarter finals – maybe even draw Barcelona there…

*May contain a lot of sarcasm

Tuesday – and tonight is Champion’s League night! Spurs back at the San Siro…

Woop! Woop! ๐Ÿ™‚

And we’re still holding onto 4th place in the Premiership above Chelski after they failed to beat Fulham last night…

Last time at the San Siro, we were 4-0 down and down to 10 men at half-time – a Bale hat-trick in the second half saw us back from the brink. No Bale tonight though – he’s still out injured, but ‘Arry has said:

Attacking football is what got us here in the first place. We have had a go all through this competition so we will have a right go again at San Siro. We can score here. I don’t want to concede bags of goals for sure. We can’t afford to make the same mistakes and can’t start like that again but as far as shutting up shop goes it’s a non-starter because we don’t have the players here.

The mighty Spurs roll on…

The last group game ended 3-3 against FC Twente, and Inter lost (3-0 to Werder Bremen) meaning we top the group ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, the Champion’s League newbies end up top of the ‘group of death’ – when the draw was made and we ended up in the same group as the Dutch champions, the German champions, and the existing Champion’s League winners, the odds were on us finishing bottom..oh how wrong they were…

So, through to the knockout stage, but with a couple of interesting points:

The first team to score at least 2 goals in every group game

(Most likely) The top scorers in the group stage (18 goals in 6 games)

Bur through we are – and no thanks to the ref (some dodgy Spanish knob), who made some very ‘interesting’ decisions – Jenas getting booked for getting injured (WTF?), a penalty being given because Assou-Ekotto handled a ball inside the area (READ: the ball was rocketing straight at his head so he raised his arm to block it – pure instinct to prevent injury), Crouch was penalised for (apparently) receiving the ball in too much space???, and the cracker for me – De Jong went down in Spurs’ area – nothing was given (correctly) – so Spurs played on, about a minute later when Lennon was on the edge of their box ready to unleash a shot/cross the ref blew up – what for? there was no head injury, Spurs were fully entitled to play on – and the Dutch defender kicking the ball (after the whistle, but he got no card) at Lennon was disgraceful.

Twente played very well tonight, but the referee was abysmal.

Another great night in Champion’s League football

So you’ve probably gathered that Spurs were playing…and indeed won ๐Ÿ˜€

Very odd game though – we were awarded 3 penalties (scored 2), had a player sent off (he missed a penalty, then scored a cracker, then got sent off for an ‘over enthusiastic’ tackle), but played so well with 10 men we won 4-1 ๐Ÿ™‚

So the group A table looks like this:

Next game is October 20th – Spurs travel to the San Siro to play Inter…I can’t wait

Champion's League (uh huh – it's more football)

Well, not such an easy draw as some groups:

But a group containing the champions (Inter Milan), Werder Bremen, and FC Twente means we’ve our work cut out here – time to show we mean business (and the year(s) end in 00/01 so ya never know…)

I’m dreaming of getting a ticket to see Inter at the Lane…first fixture is 14/15 September – I’m frantically checking the UEFA site waiting for the fixtures to be announced and it still shows:

I’ve not been this excited since, well, the last time I was this excited…

EDIT: Spurs at the San Siro too…just a game? are you KIDDING?

A quick 'n' dirty geek post ('cos I know deep down y'all love 'em)

Today has been mostly scripting so I’m like this: ๐Ÿ™‚

The scripting has involved databases – we use FileMaker Pro. I like FileMaker, it’s easy to use and seemed to do exactly what I wanted of it. Lately however, I’ve been frustrated by my inability to achieve what I think the program is up to (yes, this has depressed me greatly – I hate being beat).

Today though, I tried out FileMaker Pro 11 and OMG – this is me NOW: ๐Ÿ˜€

The scripting in it is so, so much better than the version we had before (*cough* 5.5) – it does what I want!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Spurs v Young Boys tonight – COYS!

EDIT: A 4-0 win on the night (6-3 on aggregate) sees us into the draw tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜€ woop, woop!
