Football update

With a record (Ha!) of just 2 clean sheets from 18 starts, it seems Gomes’ is no longer the first choice goalkeeper for Spurs. Apparently ‘Arry has recalled Ben Alnwick (aged 21) from his loan spell at wherever.

This makes me think – just how bad can the reserve keeper (Cesar) actually be? with Blackburn coming to the Lane on Saturday, our old ‘keeper Robinson makes his first visit back – and how he must be grinning. He’s found his form again, and must be laughing his socks off at the hapless Gomes.

Don’t get me wrong – Gomes has made some stunning saves, but these are overshadowed by the howlers he’s made resulting in Spurs being (once again) in the relegation zone.

Darren Bent is second in the high scorers table, the whole team is playing with spirit – seems everyone is keen to show ‘Arry just what they can do…except Gomes.

So, England have a ‘friendly’ against Germany on Wednesday (is there such a thing?) and memories of September 1st, 2001 (10 days before the world went to shit) will be in EVERY England fan out there. Will Bent get a start? will Lennon work his magic? will The Hud stun us with a 30 plus yard strike?

Anyway, back to Spurs – 3 home games: Blackburn, Everton, then Manchester United. If we can take 7 points from these, we’re back in midtable for Christmas…

COYS!

A prediction…

Just realised I’ve not mentioned football in about 10 minutes or so πŸ™‚

Seems that ‘Arry isn’t really too intrrested in the UEFA cup for Spurs – he’d rather concentrate on the League (right now I agree – we’re back to the bottom of the table after Newcastle beat Villa last night). I can see him fielding practically a reserve team against Dinam Zagreb on Thursday night, resting the key players for the trip to Manchester City on Sunday (then Carling Cup draw against Liverpool on Thursday).

I can see a flaw in this strategy though – seems the whole squad is VERY upbeat about the new manager, so I can see this ‘reserve’ team playing their hearts out and winning well πŸ™‚

How did I cope in the football close season?

COYS!

The Spurs v Liverpool game resulted in me winning Β£10 off Darren πŸ™‚ bonus really, I told him before the game: “I only want 2 things from this game: 1) Robbie Keane to be still looking for his first Premiership goal for Liverpool, 2) Reine to lose his clean sheet record.”

And both happened – Keane was substituted near the end, and of course, we won 2-1 πŸ™‚

When they play well, they play VERY well – Liverpool and Arsenal have seen that this season…

A great start to the week

And I always though Mondays were bad…

Last night I thought seeing as how Harriett’s computer was very similar to mine mobo-wise and how she needed a replacement hard drive, I’d fit a spare 20gb one in mine and put windows on it so I could just throw it in her machine next time I’m round.

Great plan huh?

Only the spare drive in question was spare because it was completely farked – plugged it in, switched my computer on, everything spun up, then BANG! huge noise, large glow from the processor and the heatsink welded itself to the mobo.

πŸ˜₯

On the plus side – this now means I can try MY hard drive in her machine (I’m certain that’s what the problem with hers is) and finally (taken me 5 months so far) get hers running properly…

As for mine. Well, all my music is on the 2nd drive, not a problem, Harriett is dropping her tower at mine while I’m at work, so tonight I can transfer all the music form the 2nd drive to my laptop. Also, I have a PCMCIA TV card, so I can watch TV on the laptop too. I will be buying another tower though – I’ll go here when I do.

Ofc ourse, when all this happened last night I was just a little upset – the biggest upset was the fact I had no music, plus I WAS planning on watching a film – buggered that idea up…I ended up in the pub watching the football.

So the plan for tonight is: Get my hard drives in Harriett’s PC, copy my music to the laptop via the network, make sure her PC works fine with MY hard drive (no reason it shouldn’t) and test drive some of the games her kids want to play. When all goes well, whip out my drives, bung in this one I ‘rescued’ from work, install a nice clean version of Windows, copy over her files form the old drive, and probably throw my DVD writer in for good measure. Job’s a good ‘un, I’m flavour of the month with the kids, Harriett’s happy, I’m happy – life is good…

That’s the plan – if it all goes wrong I’ll probably have to blog later (via dial up on the laptop) to let you know.
