Fame!

I may not have mentioned it, but I got a message through Flickr regarding a pic I took in Milan a few weeks back. Got another email today – it’s been used in a city guide πŸ™‚

Check it out here.

COYS!

Back at work

What a great weekend πŸ™‚ Milan is a beautiful city – expensive though (some places wanted 16 euros for a beer!). As I mentioned, finding a restaurant that sells food (not just a sandwich) wasn’t the easiest thing…but the food was lovely.

The San Siro is a HUGE stadium – 85,000 capacity (not as big as Wembley then) – as you can see from the pictures, we went all over the place, Inter and AC’s dressing rooms, sat in the dugouts, stole a lump of turf πŸ˜‰ …that seems to be standard procedure for me now, everytime I go to a football ground, I end up with some of the turf.

The Duomo cathedral is very awe inspiring – a friend (Bruno) was talking about it before we went, saying we should sit in a bar opposite the cathedral and just look. Well, that part of town was VERY expensive, so we spent about an hour up on the roof (ok, much of the time was spent ogling the ladies).

The food – oh, the food…when you finally find a place to eat, the food is sooooo good. Dennis found out that ‘antipasta’ means starter, so while I had a lovely steak with potatoes and a delicious sauce, he had 3 slices of salami, some mushrooms all covered in olive oil – after this, he tended to order from the same part of the menu I was reading (hint: always follow my lead when food is involved – I do like my food…).

I mentioned Burger King – I know it’s a typical Brit abroad thing to eat English food, I refused to go into any of the McDonalds out there, and even directed someone to Burger King when they wanted McDonalds (heh, I’m sure they’d thank me…) – anyway, you can buy a beer there! πŸ™‚ and it’s cheap! (2.70 euros), and it’s open 24 hours! and it was opposite our hotel! all this is why it was the late night snack place of choice prior to going back to the hotel.

Of course, landing at Heathrow was a bit of a shock – Milan was warm (about 21 degrees), London was cold, wet, and well, London 😐 Must admit though, Terminal 5 is enormous. The baggage handling was impressive, took about 4 minutes to get from the plane to the baggage reclaim, and my bag was there already πŸ™‚ most importantly, the bottle of vodka in it was still intact πŸ˜€

Pictures are just about uploaded – off to go add descriptions now πŸ™‚

EDIT: Oh yes, Rik – there ARE MILFS in Milan, and they have lovely pert arses. I always thought Italian women tended to spread as they aged, but it seems the lack of food places there means they don’t eat, they just buy shoes and handbags.

A post from Milan

Well, Milan is a great place πŸ™‚

Apart from the amount of McDonald’s around…they’re bleeding EVERYWHERE! (oh, and there’s a Burger King just over the road from the hotel – makes for a great late night snack after serious drinking.

Which brings me to the price of beer over here – average is 7 euros for a pint (that’s Β£6 odd). So, after paying this huge sum for a few, we found a supermarket with the intention of buying some vodka, getting pissed on it at the hotel, THEN going out.

So, we found Polish vodka at 6.49 euros -. did that bottle in about 3 hours prior to going out last nigh (I don’t remember too much actually, just Dennis putting his head into bushes (I tried uploading pics from my phone to Flickr but they don’t seem to be there).

Went to see the Duomo cathedral today – that is really something, the work that went into building the place is phenomenal, even paid to go up on the roof (you can see the San Siro from there πŸ™‚ )

Found out that trying to find a restaurant open on a Sunday is almost impossible, but finally found one before I had to give in and goto McDonald’s (close thing though – I was starving).

Was given a shot by shot report on the Spurs game today – but I’m still happy, it’s only a blip (albeit a blip that’s going on for too long now).

Off to the San Siro tomorrow for a tour of the place, then eat some more food (I love Italian), perv on the lovely ladies (and oh, they ARE lovely), drink a load more, then off to the airport back home to reality.

Talking of which, I don’t think we’ve arranged a lift back to town from the airport yet…

Ciao πŸ™‚

Thursdays – full of the promise of the weekend

I LOVE Thursdays πŸ™‚

Got my mum’s broadband connection up and running last night – complete with the whole “Install CD? manual? HA! I laugh at you!” then proceeded to plug all the cables in and use a browser (Firefox of course) to configure the router – job done.

Had to use those power adaptor wireless thingies (technical term) ‘cos her master phone socket is downstairs while the computer is upstairs – connection is good though. Now all I’ve got to do is add a TV card so my brother and me can wire the CCTV cameras into the computer and monitor/record remotely. Well, I do have to show mum how to use email and the browser to look up stuff which reminds me of when my dad was still alive and expressed an interest in computers. I set him up with a webcam and MSN and he chatted to some family a few times. It was only after he died my sister told me that she’d showed him my webpage at some point and he was very impressed – meant the world to me that he thought that. I miss him.

Got a lift arranged to get to Heathrow Saturday morning (7.30am flight – means we’ve got to be there at 5.30am…harsh), I also found out that Terminal 5 has 1 bar landside and LOADS airside πŸ™‚ and they all open at 5.30am so we’ll be good for breakfast (in a liquid stylee πŸ˜‰ )

Dennis’ GF asked me last night if I was all ready to go. My reply? “All I have to do is throw a few things in a bag…I’ll do it 5 minutes beforeI leave.” (I’ll probably end up doing it later tonight – I’m actually too organised to leave it until the last minute).

Weather for the weekend is pretty good – temperatures around 16-18 degrees (memo to self: take a jumper), so some sight-seeing is the order of the day weekend – the Duomo is a breathtaking sight apparently (Bruno has practically ordered me to go see it…I will), of course the San Siro will be awesome (shame there’s no game there this weekend), and Italian women – oh where to begin…I’ve always been attracted to brunettes over blondes, and the Italian accent is the most sexy I’ve EVER heard.

Hmm…found some (humorous) phrases:

Dove Γ¨ l’oliva più vicina giardino? – Where is the closest Olive Garden?
Dove disfaccio di questo corpse del bellboy? Where do I dispose of this bellboy’s corpse?
Il vino Γ¨ squisito, può io fondle i vostri genitals? The wine is delicious, may I fondle your genitals?
Diretto me alla tomba del Mussolini, dato che lui era un uomo grande Direct me to Mussolini’ grave, for he was a great man
Ho dormito con uno dei vostri locals, esso stings quando orino I slept with one of your locals, it stings when I pee
Nessun contatto, gradisco guardare. Sentite l’odore di come la madre. No touching, I like to watch. You smell like mother.

*grin*

And now to do some work…

snee to the rescue!

Heh.

Got a call from Harriett yesterday about her computer – apparently it was running ‘weird’ and could I take a look at it?

So I picked it up, updated a few bits and delivered it back last night. Decided to go for a quick pint before going home, so I left the car on Harriett’s drive while I wandered to the Tudor (it’s literally a stone’s throw from her house).

Just got my pint when my phone rang – Harriett.

“Where are you?” says she,

“In the bar having a beer.” was my reply.

“Oh…I’ve locked myself in Phoebe’s bedroom – can you come and let me out please?”

*Giggle, giggle, giggle* “Yes, of course I can – be there in a couple of minutes…” said I trying not to laugh TOO much.

And so the brave adventurer once again wandered up East Street and without a thought for his own safety (OK, I’m allowed a little artistic license) opened the bedroom door.

Oh, and took a picture πŸ™‚ :

And the damsel was grateful – which was nice, I couldn’t stop laughing πŸ™‚

Shame the picture is a little blurry – but you have to understand I had one instant to take it.

Off to Milan on Saturday morning – Harriett’s offered to drive us there but I’m not certain – she’s not too good at getting up early and this means a 4am start to get to Heathrow (it’ll be my first time inside Terminal 5 – seen it loads of times from the M25, but never been inside yet).

EDIT: Damn coffee machine is giving out half measures – could be a long day…

Life, love and unity

It’s a wonderful thing isn’t it?

Life I mean – where we get to endure years of education (OK, I use that term loosely as nowadays it seems hordes of chavs leave school without even being able to read etc.), then are set loose on the (mostly) unsuspecting world to provide for ourselves (and myriad illegitimate kids in the case of the aforementioned chavs).

All this leads us eventually to what is probably the greatest creation on earth – yes: beer.

So we work all week, yearning for 1pm on a Friday (I work half day on Fridays) and freedom πŸ™‚

Or maybe it’s just me…

Love. Hmm, a tough one this. I think I’ve got this sussed out: Love is when you have your heart ripped out, dragged through thorny hedges, then stamped on. Then it’s given back to you – not QUITE working right, but not enough to worry too much about.

That’s love, that is.

Which brings me to unity. Meet me later and I’ll buy you a beer πŸ™‚

An example of Banksy’s work. Some call it graffiti, some call it art. Personally, I like it – I like it a lot. And it sure as hell beats looking at blank walls or the chavvy misspelt insults you normally see.

Oh well, off to Milan next weekend (18th) for a 3 day piss-up πŸ™‚

B3ta

As I may have mentioned once or twice, I spend much of my working day (good job my boss doesn’t read my blog…) reading the QOTW on B3ta.com πŸ™‚

This weeks’ QOTW (that’s ‘question of the week’) is ‘Pointless experiments‘ and it’s hilarious – I’ve only ead 3 pages (slow morning…) and my nose is sore from laughing so hard coffee comes out of it.

It’s Friday! πŸ™‚ yay!

Payday, half day, start of the weekend…

I LOVE Fridays πŸ™‚

Anyone fancy meeting me for a beer (or 20) later?

Oh yeah, I posted a Youtube video that Rikaitch had on his site – go there (I’m too lazy to put it here…) and check out one he posted on Wednesday – makes for a good laugh…

EDIT: A post on the B3ta QOTW pointed me to this link πŸ™‚

SECOND EDIT: β€œNo, my gun is quite blunt” is the wrong answer to the question β€œIs there anything sharp in your hand luggage?”

*snigger*

Just over an hour to go until the weekend…and to make myself at least sound busy, I’m adding some more inane ramblings.

I’m sure I posted pics of my ankle when I first broke it 18 months ago. Well, it’s finally healed – no open cuts or anything now (just a manky looking scar – will post a pic at some point). The MRSA I contraacted after the initial op meant everything took it’s time – it was about this time last year that the wound finally closed up, then I had a couple of months with everything all hunkydory. Then the screws started working their way out meaning wearing work boots or even socks was extremely painful. Then came the op to remove all the metalwork in April…3 months it’s taken for THAT cut to heal.

The fact that it was still pretty much open when I was in Spain meant that any trip to the beach meant me having to cover it and absolutely NO swimming in the (polluted) Med.

Still, all’s well that end well…

Still an hour to go.

Looks like I’m off to Milan in September – most likely the week after my birthday (the 16th, my 40th – buy me gifts/give me money/get me drunk). I’m going with Dennis (Czech guy from the Tudor) as he’s a really good mate and to be honest, the whole trip is geared to football so taking a woman would be kind of a waste (added to the fact I’m womanless at the moment πŸ™ )

Should be a memorable weekend – San Siro, drink (lots of), good food, Italian women…

ANOTHER EDIT: I took a pic of my ankle:

All fixed

All fixed

It doesn’t look too good – I’ve seen similar scars that are tiny white lines, but this is me and I’m fixed πŸ™‚

Bored…

I’m bored.

Got some work to do, but not enough to see the day out…and so I’m surfing t’interweb looking for a new theme for my phone.

As well as being bored – I need to get laid.

Sigh.

On a bright note – I won a trip to Milan for 2 people for 2 nights πŸ™‚ PLUS a tour of the San Siro stadium πŸ˜€

San Siro stadium

San Siro stadium

That’s got to be the first thing I’ve won in ages – maybe the next thing’ll be the lotto tonight?

If that’s so – drinks on me
