And I always though Mondays were bad…<\/p>\n

Last night I thought seeing as how Harriett’s computer was very similar to mine mobo-wise and how she needed a replacement hard drive, I’d fit a spare 20gb one in mine and put windows on it so I could just throw it in her machine next time I’m round.<\/p>\n

Great plan huh?<\/p>\n

Only the spare drive in question was spare because it was completely farked – plugged it in, switched my computer on, everything spun up, then BANG! huge noise, large glow from the processor and the heatsink welded itself to the mobo.<\/p>\n

On the plus side – this now means I can try MY hard drive in her machine (I’m certain that’s what the problem with hers is) and finally (taken me 5 months so far) get hers running properly…<\/p>\n

As for mine. Well, all my music is on the 2nd drive, not a problem, Harriett is dropping her tower at mine while I’m at work, so tonight I can transfer all the music form the 2nd drive to my laptop. Also, I have a PCMCIA TV card, so I can watch TV on the laptop too. I will be buying another tower though – I’ll go here<\/a> when I do.<\/p>\n

Ofc ourse, when all this happened last night I was just a little upset – the biggest upset was the fact I had no music, plus I WAS planning on watching a film – buggered that idea up…I ended up in the pub watching the football.<\/p>\n

So the plan for tonight is: Get my hard drives in Harriett’s PC, copy my music to the laptop via the network, make sure her PC works fine with MY hard drive (no reason it shouldn’t) and test drive some of the games her kids want to play. When all goes well, whip out my drives, bung in this one I ‘rescued’ from work, install a nice clean version of Windows, copy over her files form the old drive, and probably throw my DVD writer in for good measure. Job’s a good ‘un, I’m flavour of the month with the kids, Harriett’s happy, I’m happy – life is good…<\/p>\n
