Well, the world cup finals are under way – England got a win in the first game but personally I’m not happy – Eriksson made some substitutions that were just WRONG – in football you just can’t sit back and defend a 1-0 advantage. The ref was shit too – I’m not even going to start on THAT one…<\/p>\n

Work’s been good this week – down to Bournemouth again for 2 days – weather was awesome (for once) and I FINALLY got to see the beach (the hotel we stay in is only 10 minutes from the seafront and I’d never before seen it).<\/p>\n

I love summer…I don’t think I was ever meant to live in a country with a winter – as soon as I win the lotto, I’m off to somewhere that’s sunny and hot all year round. And if that place has no mobile phone reception, then I’ll just have to live without one (oh my, that’ll be tough…NOT). Of course, internet access would be a must though – I could live without people if I had access to the internet.<\/p>\n

Cats have a great life. My cat (Gif) has such an easy life – I let him out in the morning and he just slouches along all day waiting for me to finish work and come home to feed him. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I want to come back as a cat – it seems that’s the top life form, of course, you have to have an ‘owner’ (do cats have owners, or do they choose where they’ll live?) that does everything for you – letting you out, feeding you, brushing you, letting you have 80% of the bed at night…damn, I’m a slave to my cat.<\/p>\n

Back to football – it’s a football junkie’s dream – 64 games in a month, the top players from the top countries (no Scotland obviously) on the world’s stage. Will England win it finally and put away those 40 years of hurt? will Zidane go out on a high and take it back to Frnace? will Brazil underline what everyone already knows and take the cup away for the 6th time? Obviously I want England to win, and there’s 72 million others like me – my throat is sore from cheering them in the opening game, I’m seriously tempted to take some holiday and go to Germany – the atmosphere there must be excellent. Don’t get me wrong, the Globe was a good place to be yesterday – both bars with big screens and packed out with England supporters, but how must it be to actually be in the ground? I must admit I get a lump in my throat when I hear 40,000 fans singing the national anthem, so I’d be a blubbering wreck if I was there…<\/p>\n

Anyway, a win is a win – we’re top of the group and a win against Trinidad and Tobago will see us through the group stage before we meet Sweden. That means Rooney can rest until the knockout phase – I can’t wait to see him and Owen up front with Beckham’s crosses flying in…you know, it COULD be coming home – I’m really starting to think that.
