    Morons on phones

No, not the ones who wander around with their cellphone welded to their ears, bellowing into the microphone in a self-important manner – I mean sales people. I phoned a steel stockist on Tuesday to order (surprisingly) some steel. I explained we didn’t have an account, gave him the order and asked for a proforma invoice so we could pay, and get the gear. No problem right? 😐 So, I called back today to ask where my invoice was and got this incredibly stoopid sales monkey: Sales Monkey: “Do you have an account number?” Me: “No, I explained when I […]

    My favourite pastime: shopping

Sarcasm doesn’t really come across on a blog does it? So, was up early today and decided to do my shopping before the sheep all goto Tesco. It’s actually quite nice early in the morning – parking spot near the door (for a fast getaway), the aisles are fairly clear, and the checkouts unclogged. There were a few people around though, and I saw something that makes my blood boil: Parents who sit/stand their kids IN the trolley. Now the trolleys have a child seat for little ‘uns which is understandable, but letting their germ-ridden shoes into the bit where […]

Mid-week, hobbits, hairy feet and no coffee

So, here we are at Wednesday again – traditionally the day when weekends are planned (yeah right! I prefer the ‘go with the flow’ approach). It’s also (more importantly) the point in the working week where the weekend is closer than the beginning 🙂 The annoying thing is that the coffee machine has run out of black coffee and I can’t be bothered making my own 😐 so I’m stuck with the choices: Drinking white coffee (bleugh) Being nice to Corina so that she makes me coffee *Sigh* and it’s only 10.30 so an early dinner isn’t really an option. […]

    It’s Friday!

Woop, woop! Had a good day in Hahn yesterday – got the job done in about 3 hours and had 4 hours to myself before I could could check-in (I was on standby and had to wait for everyone else to check-in before I could be guaranteed a seat). The weather was lovely so I decided to take a walk into the village about 1km from the airport, find a bar/cafe and sit there for a while and practice my (incredibly bad considering I took it for 2 years at school – but that was a LONG time ago*) German. […]

    Mondayless weeks

Don’t you just love ’em? 🙂 Yet another short week – made somewhat shorter by the fact I’ll be in Hahn on Thursday (and after OBL’s death, no doubt security will be even more stringent). Today should be a good day too – as the driver is delivering to Manchester/East Midlands, I’ll be taking a delivery to Stansted and dropping off the test gear to be flown out to Hahn, and hopefully, that’s about it. Seeing as I came in on Friday, I reckon I’m due a couple of hours off 😛 So, happy Tuesday people!

So, yesterday turned out to be fairly busy for me

A guy who does some rep work for us visited the office. As he came in he spotted me and said “Ah, just the man.” (this generally makes me die a little inside ‘cos it’s usually the precursor to some inane computer problem, but I like the bloke). “What’s up then?” I enquired. “My daughter’s laptop has a virus – I’ve got it in the car – can you take a look at it for me?” I agreed and the laptop was duly presented to me – a pink Dell no less 😐 So I booted it up and OMG…it’s […]
