The telephone saga
Which kind of sums up this week at work.
The boss decided we needed new telephones – 1 on each desk. There’s generally 3 of us in the office so, despite me (in my IT mode) trying to push the decision to an ‘office in a box’ system costing about £400, it was decided to buy a 3 phone set from Argos (you can see where this is going now…)
Ok, first set: all charged up, working fine. Boss hated them – the speakers have an echo and he doesn’t have the handsfree he desperately needs.
And so they went back to be replaced by more Argos tat.
Second set: all charged up, 1 of the satellite phones doesn’t work, so this one’s going back today too.
So, in a week, this small office has had a throughput of 6 phones, and we have nothing to show for them.
Ah well, I’m gonna push for my solution next week – yes, it is more expensive, but as it includes a wireless router, VoIP and a true switchboard, then (I think) it’s a good deal. Besides, we’re using one of my routers right now, and I could do with having it back (ditto the monitor on my desk).
Oh, and this is for Corina:
