Sitting home tonight, having a beer, and I just started thinking about Yahoo…

Heh…certainly had a lot of good times then – with the different time zones, there was always someone to chat to. I was off work with a bad back, so I pretty much relied on chat as a social life for a year or two…met a lot of good people though and generally stay in touch with most of them 🙂 (whabbs – did you start on Bren about a WordPress blog yet?).

Yahoo had it all though- good people, arseholes, total arseholes, almighty arseholes, and bots…thousands and thousands of bots…it was actually fun! bait/boot the arseholes just to piss them off, tag the bots for a rollercoaster ride through the strange side of chat rooms, change snippets of code for different exploits being found, take over rooms mob handed and play the Ren and Stimpy song (or Classical in a Thrash Metal room worked…)…or even just chat! 🙂

I guess this Second Life stuff et al is the next generation of chat…must be getting old – I’m still using MSN!

But…in Second Life, can a bunch of you sit there and bet who can manually crack and steal a random ID in the room? heh…so many people using 123456 as a password – easy stuff. Change the password, edit the profile to make their sexual preferences ‘very open’ complete with obligatory picture – PM their contact list, and logout and forget 🙂 Well, apparently…

I think I still have 1 or 2 Yahoo accounts…obviously I use sneesh for my local FreeCycle group (free stuff yeah! get rid of stuff – double yeah!), I wonder if the old so-called ‘illegal’ IDs still work…hmm – does Yahoo chat still exist? *looks* OK, quick check seems you need to run Messenger… *shudder* – talking of which, I’m still sure I found the way to easily block the ad in the old Messenger first – I’m certain I put it on my webpage before anyone else…(I’m not bitter – my AdBlock was used all over the world for years 🙂 ).
