Vodafone

Or VodaCON as I now call them are a bunch of pricks. When I had 2 months remaining on my 24 month contract, I called them up to enquire how much it would cost to pay off the contract as I had seen some really good deals on PAYG (Giffgaff) and was planning on switching. I got a call back from their sales people who offered me a 300 minute, unlimited texts and internet* for £10 a month. What’s more, the guy informed me, it would be a 30 day rolling contract so I could cancel anytime by giving them […]

    Apparently I “move too quietly”

😐 Tuesday is steak night at the Gash (the local Wetherspoon), so Darren and I decided to go and eat some cow. A pleasant evening was had – lots of chatting while eating our cow-based meals, and a couple of pints were imbibed (it’s quite weird going out on a Tuesday night – you don’t want to drink too much ‘cos it’s not even halfway through the week*) Leaving relatively early, I arrived back at Lisa’s at about 9.30 or so and let myself in – this in itself is a relatively noisy affair, as my key tends to stick […]

    Spider hands, spider hands…

So, laying in bed last night, Lisa was rubbing my back, when she suddenly stopped, looked slightly worried, then dissolved in streams of laughter (and I’m talking STREAMS – tears were running down her face etc.) I finally got her to say what was up, and her reply? “I was rubbing your back, and saw my hand on your shoulder and thought it was a spider…” 😐 You just can’t make this stuff up… Been a long week: up to Prestwick on Tuesday to test and inspect all of their jacks/tooling while they’re on summer shutdown (the aircrafdt industry generally […]

    Another great weekend

Saturday was spent laying concrete at my mum’s (that would be Bob and me) in the hot sun – at least we had a mixer this time (good job too, we used 1 tonne of ballast!). Got most of it done now, just a little bit more to do next weekend. Mum fed us too – woop, woop! Sunday I went to London with Lisa and the girls (Carys and Kira). Was a lovely day wandering about, visiting The Clink and SeaLife. Kira winds her mum up by saying “I’m hers” – here’s the pictorial proof: Heh… EDIT: I changed […]

Why you should NEVER ask me what I’m thinking…

So, there I was one morning, just woken up, layinh there grinning to myself. “What are you thinking?” asked Lisa, no doubt thinking I’d come out with some fluffy comment. “Well,” I began, “I was just thinking about painting monkeys – not in a watercolour, but using a roller..do you think purple or yellow monkeys would look best?” Personally, I prefer the idea of purple monkeys, but that’s just me… On another occasion, I decided an army of blue ducks would be a cool thing to have – Lisa thought they’d look better with tin hats 😐

    Nag, nag, nag…

Even Bu’er is nagging me to update (does this mean she’s blogged recently?) Been a great week – Monday in the office, Tuesday & Wednesday testing down in (not so) sunny Bournemouth – this was the first time in all the years I’ve been going down there to test at FR Aviation that it’s not been beautiful weather. Shame really, I’ve just had some modifications done to the test rig and wanted some nice pictures for the new website (which will be going live in the next week or so to replace our static html site). I’m still getting the […]

    Nokia N900

I’ve had this phone for nearly 8 months now and I love it – the only thing that could improve it is if the keyboard hinged upwards when opened (like the N97). Other than that, it’s great! a full Linux operating system in a pocket sized package 🙂 A couple of weeks back, I installed Android onto the SD card and finally got around to booting into that last night while Lisa was cooking dinner (and what a dinner it was: roast lamb, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, peas, gravy and yorkshire puddings – I can honestly say I […]
